The FaN (Fitness and Nutrition) Clinic provides an intervention to modify your child’s nutrition habits and physical activity in a way that is fun, non-judgmental, and effective.
Goals for your Child
We will focus more on changing the child’s lifestyle habits rather than weight loss since this is shown to be more sustainable and effective.
You as the caregiver play a vital role in helping your child lose weight. You are the role model, and you can modify the home environment by making available more healthy food choices, limit the accessibility of junk food, keeping your child more active, and limiting the child’s sedentary behaviors.
We encourage you to be more supportive than controlling towards your child. It is shown that children are less resistant to changes if they are encouraged.
We will promote small daily changes, goal setting, problem solving, and reinforcement of healthy behavior changes.
We encourage the whole family to not only support the child but also modify their lifestyle as well.
